SNCAT chief orients TVI administrators on ABDD
BUTUAN CITY -- Surigao del Norte College of
Agriculture and Technology (SNCAT) College Administrator Abegail B. EupeΓ±a on
Wednesday, August 17, oriented the Technical Vocational Institution (TVIs)
Administrators on the Area-Based and Demand-Driven (ABDD) Technical Vocational
Education and Training (TVET).
During the conduct of the Regional TVI
Administrators’ Conference held in Butuan City, the ABDD is following the PSALM
Approach (Policy-Oriented, Sector-focused, Area-based, Labor Market-driven).
According to Administrator EupeΓ±a, the guidelines
support the implementation of an area-based demand-driven policy direction at
all levels of operation.
Specifically, it aims to: a) respond to the needs
of the industries at the national or at the local level; b) deliver programs
according to the identified skills priorities and emerging skills needs in the
area; and c) consolidate the major processes with corresponding process cycle
time (PCT) leading to the development of TVET programs to respond immediately
to the identified priority and emerging skills at the local level.
EupeΓ±a added the area-based and demand-driven TVET
consolidates the major TESDA processes leading to the development and delivery
of TVET programs to respond to the identified priority and emerging skills at
the national, regional, and provincial levels. The major processes of the
area-based and demand-driven TVET are: a) Skills mapping; b) Competency
Standards (CS) and Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) Development; c) Capability
Building Program for Trainers; and d) Program Registration/Program Recognition.
The official further said the ABDD concept promotes
agility and flexibility, adapts and adopts strategy/international trend,
addresses changing skills needs in the area, and recommendation from the
organizational developmental exercises.
Earlier, TESDA-Caraga Regional Director Tarhata S.
Mapandi reiterated TESDA Circular No. 080, series of 2020 particularly the
accreditation under Dual Training System under the amended implementing rules
and regulations.
It can be recalled that early this year,
TESDA-Caraga hosted the "Enterprise - Based Training to the MAX" in
Butuan City, graced by DDG Anecito “John” D. Bertiz III, deputy
director-general for TESD operations. It was attended by different industry
groups, national line agencies, medial partners, TESDA officials and personnel.
The objective of the activity is to conduct a social marketing and advocacy campaign on EBT to the Max and to meet with various stakeholders of TESDA in relation to the agency’s partnerships and would-be partner industries and other organizations.
