DSWD, DA-NDA visit SLP beneficiary-organization in Butuan
BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP)-Zero Hunger Program and in partnership with the Department of Agriculture-National Dairy Authority (DA-NDA), recently facilitated a benchmarking activity and learning visit for the members of the Backyard Goat Raisers SLP Association at the Jolly Goat Dairy Farm in Dumalagan, this city.
The DSWD-SLP and DA-NDA organized the said activity to equip the association members with knowledge on how to manage a dairy goat farm since the SLPA proposed to have Dairy Goat Production as their livelihood project.
Before the learning visit, participants attended various capacity-building activities such as project proposal preparation, leadership and organization development, and orientation on the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program of the DSWD.
The Zero Hunger Program as a new action item implemented under the DSWD-SLP is a national-initiated partnership program aiming to provide poor and marginalized farmers with financial livelihood assistance, capacity-building, and skills training. Moreover, it promotes functional complementation of livelihood assistance from different Program Convergence Budgeting (PCB) partner agencies to achieve a common goal of uplifting our poor individuals and organizations.
