Local artists present art with a heart exhibit on breastfeeding

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY -- In line with the Breastfeeding Awareness Month celebration, the Agusan Artists Association initiated the “Art with a heart” exhibit which they call “Pagpangga” or “Care” at SM City Butuan. This exhibit shows the unique and meaningful creations of the local artists, and is open for public viewing from August 17 until August 30.

According to Ronnie Rudinas, spokesperson of Agusan Artists Association, the exhibit aims to show the relevance of breastfeeding through arts.

“Art is one way of depicting the visual interpretation of motherhood and breastfeeding journey of mothers,” said Rudinas.

The Agusan Artists Association started the group on December 21, 2019. Since then, it has become active in creating masterpieces that portray solidarity of the local artists, whose artworks continue to capture the attention of the general public.

Frank Nicol Melgar, Public Relations Officer of SM City Butuan invites mall-goers to witness the exhibit at the second level of the mall, and support this cause.

He added that the said activity is one of the “SM Cares” programs that promote the rights and welfare of the women, lactating mothers, and their children.  There is also a breastfeeding station at the third level of the mall. (JPG/NCLM/PIA-Caraga)
