Police arrests drunk security guard in Surigao Norte who went amok
BUTUAN CITY -- With its commitment to preserve the peace and order in Caraga region, the Police Regional Office-13 arrested a drunk security guard after firing his weapon in Malimono, Surigao del Norte on August 23, 2022.
PRO-13 director, Police Brigadier General (PBGEN) Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. divulged that 55-year-old Roy Labial Vergara, a security guard of J&T Express, was arrested by personnel of Malimono Municipal Police Station (MPS) at 5:20 PM in Purok-4, Barangay Bunyasan, Malimono, Surigao del Norte.
Confiscated from Vergara’s possession were one unit of .38 cal. revolver with serial number RIA1871925, two live ammunition, two fired cartridges, one slug and one bladed weapon with scabbard.
Police received a phone call from a concerned citizen informing the police station of a commotion in front of the house of the suspect’s parents. The investigation revealed that Vergara had a disagreement with his father that led to the incident.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Alarms and Scandal and Violation of Presidential Decree Blg. 6 for illegal possession of bladed weapon docketed under criminal case number XM-06-INQ-22H-103.
“The arrest of the suspect is the result of the active participation of the community in our quest to maintain peace and order in our community. This is a wake-up call to those persons charged with carrying firearms in their line of duty to be responsible for their actions or face the consequences,” the region’s top cop said.
