RIAC-SC, Butuan stakeholders to join “walk for Life”

BUTUAN CITY – The members of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee for Senior Citizens (RIAC-SC) Caraga chaired by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), along with other partner stakeholders in Butuan will take part in this year’s celebration of Elderly Filipino Week (EFW) through the conduct of “Walk for Life” on October 6, 2022, 5:00 a.m.
The
walk will start from the Provincial Capitol of Agusan del Norte going to VCDU
Convention in Barangay Villakananga, Butuan City. A Zumba exercise and short
program will then follow.
At the
same venue, participating sectors especially the senior citizens will also
benefit from the free medical and dental check-up, and distribution of elderly
hygiene kits.
DSWD-Caraga
regional director Mari-flor Dollaga-Libang reiterated that the celebration of
the EFW aims to recognize the significant contributions of older persons to
nation-building, as well as raise awareness to issues and concerns faced by the
sector.
“This
year, we celebrate with the theme “Older Persons: Resilience in Nation-Building,”
she said.
Proclamation
No. 470 series of 2014 declares the first week of October of every year as the
