By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY – Different sectors in Caraga region are set to join this year’s Regional Dagyaw Townhall Meeting with the theme “Edukasyon ug Nutrisyon sa Kabataang Caraganon: Palig-onon!” (Education and Nutrition for Caraganon Youth: To be strengthened!), on November 18, 2022 at Dottie’s Place, this city.

The Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) for Dagyaw composed of government agencies such as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and civil society organizations, agreed during its coordination meeting to highlight the situation, issues and concerns of the school children and the youth especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the efforts of the government and different stakeholders in the protection of children’s rights and promotion of the overall well-being of the children and youth.

There will be three parts of the said townhall meeting: The Child in School; Health of Learners; and Mental Health and Well-being of Caraganon Learners.

Guest speakers will come from the Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga through Dr. Violeta NuΓ±ez, OIC-Chief Education Program Supervisor, Policy, Planning and Research Division; Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) Policy Center through Director Jeffrey Carin; National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga through Dr. NiΓ±o Archie Labordo, OIC-Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator; Gawad Kalinga through Director Victor Emmanuel Ozarraga; and Caraga State University (CSU) Guidance and Counseling Center through Dr. Maria Olivia Bating,  Counseling Supervisor.

Some 150 participants are expected to join in the townhall meeting to name, student leaders, youth organizations, Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), indigenous peoples (IP) youth, and many more.

The Regional Dagyaw will also be streamed live through PIA Caraga’s Facebook page and to be shared by DILG and other concerned government agencies.
