DOLE, PRC train first aiders in Agusan del Sur
SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur -- In coordination with the Philippine Red Cross-Agusan del Sur Chapter (PRC-Agsur), the Department of Labor and Employment Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE ADSFO) recently trained some fifty (50) representatives from 16 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as Occupational First Aiders, held at Mabe's Savory Place, San Francisco, this province.
PRC-Agsur Chapter Service Representative Leopoldo C. Pinco, conducted the First Aid Training which included Basic Life Support Training, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Artificial External Defibrillator (AED) Training, Bandaging Techniques, and Basic Knowledge of Occupational health diseases.
The participants were also oriented on Department Order (DO) 198: Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 11058 Entitled “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof," by DOLE ADSFO Labor and Employment Officer Rey P. Dumalaba.
One of the attendees, Mr. Keejay Brian P. De Jesus of Premio Corporation-Barobo, commended the department for continuously conducting safety and health trainings in the province.
"Thank you to DOLE Agusan del Sur for this initiative and for facilitating the conduct of Safety Officer and First Aid trainings,” De Jesus said.
The two-day training was concluded by the conduct of actual examinations, presentation of learned training techniques, and simulation of scenarios that may reflect in everyday events. All participants were graded based on their performance thru-out the course.
Complementary to the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Personnel requirement, establishments earlier attended Safety Officer 1 Training conducted last October 24,2022, in the same venue. Trained Safety Officer 1 and Certified First Aider are the basic requirements for OSH Personnel for low-risk establishments as per RA 11058 and D.O 198. (RPD, LEO III/DOLE ADSFO/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
