DILG 13 conducts women’s forum for recovering drug dependents
BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office Caraga conducted the Women’s Forum: Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Advocacy and Economic Recovery for Recovering Drug Dependents (RDDs) cum “Gandang May Igaganda Pa: Serbisyo Para Kay Juana” on March 16, 2023 at Grand Palace Hotel, this city.
Butuan City’s
Recovering Drug Dependents (RDDs) were chosen to be DILG Caraga’s beneficiaries
for this year’s National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC). This is a continuing
and yearly tradition in honoring the lives of women by providing them pampering
kits by DILG and providing them inputs on how to avail the livelihood and
skills program from our partner agencies – Department of Trade and Industry
(DTI) and Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).
This is one of the activities under the BIDA Program, the DILG's medium
to long-term program in the national campaign against illegal drugs pursuant to
Executive Order No. 66 or the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS).
With the celebration of National Women’s Month every march, it is timely to
have the activity as part of the Women’s Month Celebration since BIDA Program
includes advocacy to strengthen drug demand reduction and raise public
awareness on the ill-effects of illegal drugs.
A pampering
session for the women – kababaihan dubbed as “Gandang May Igaganda Pa: Serbisyo
Para Kay Juana” was provided in the afternoon with free services offered like
haircut, manicure, pedicure and massage services.
As a strong advocate for Women’s rights, DILG XIII – Caraga supports in
promoting women’s welfare and in commemorating their contribution to work,
families and to our communities.
BIDA Program is
pursuant to Executive Order No. 66 (Institutionalizing Philippine Anti-illegal
Drugs Strategy or PADS) in line with the current administration’s commitment to
continue the campaign against illegal drugs. BIDA aims to raise awareness and
encourage community participation in drug demand reduction. (LGOO VI
