DSWD, SurSur LGU hold groundbreaking of isolation facility

TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur --The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the local government unit of Tagbina, Surigao del Sur province conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of a temporary isolation facility in Barangay Maglambing, Tagbina town on Wednesday, March 28.
The implementation of the project was through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan - Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Additional Financing (AF) valued at P954,592.
From the Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Building, the building was upgraded to an isolation facility furnished with two units of comfort rooms and three rooms partition with folding beds, complete amenities, and medical equipment.
The project is expected to complete within 60 calendar days.
In her message, Mayor Glaiza Jane Polizon-Lanete emphasized the importance of the community volunteers and barangay officials to participate in the implementation of all programs and projects of the KALAHI.
The mayor added that the project implemented is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the local and national government.
KALAHI-CIDSS, otherwise known as the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services, is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the Philippine Government being implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). It uses the community-driven development (CDD) approach, a globally recognized strategy to achieve service delivery, poverty reduction, and favorable outcome from good governance.
Its objective is to develop and empower the barangays and communities of targeted municipalities to achieve timely access to government services and to participate in more inclusive local planning, budgeting, and implementation. (with a report from LGU-Tagbina/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
