Surigao port frontliners get Service Excellence Training from DOT

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- Commuters and port users at the Port of Surigao and the Lipata Ferry Terminal will soon experience the much-vaunted “Filipino Brand of Service Excellence.”

Aware of the importance of seaports in the continuous development and improvement of the Philippine Tourism Industry, 72 tourism front liners made up of Port Police Operatives, Cashiers/Collection Representatives, Operations Officers and other personnel at  the Port of Surigao and the Lipata Ferry Terminal participated in a two-day  Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Training conducted by the Caraga Regional Office of the Department of Tourism beginning Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

The participants especially liked the “Mabuhay Gesture” as taught during the training. A simple act of gracefully laying the palm of the right hand over the center of the chest with a slight head nod, the participants vow to perform the Mabuhay gesture to make port clients, especially tourists, feel welcome and fuel their desire to return to Surigao.

In partnership with the City Government of Surigao through the Surigao City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, the learning sessions on the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence is in line with the goal of the DOT to train more tourism front liners in the Caraga Region and improve the provision of hospitality service in the city.
