Lapaznons anticipate various activities for “Buwan ng La Paz”

BUTUAN CITY – With the local government of La Paz in Agusan del Sur preparing all the necessary logistics and activities for the celebration of “Buwan ng La Paz” (Month of La Paz), the local residents and tourists are anticipating of a levelled up gatherings, performances, and entertainment for the whole month of March.
Hermogenes Aying,
Municipal Tourism Officer of La Paz, Agusan del Sur, shared that one of the
highlights of the Buwan ng La Paz on March 7-31 is the Miss La Paz pageant.
“We will definitely bring
back that pageant after more than two years of COVID-19 pandemic. Now, we want
to celebrate the beauty of La Paz. In my term, I want to be a youth ambassador,
and promote such activity for youth development. I want to inspire the young
generation of La Paz to be confident,” Aying said.
He also bared that in
terms of tourism, the municipality of La Paz is seasonal. “We try this year to
invite more people to visit La Paz because we are in the middle of nowhere. We
really need to use the power of social media to let them know that we have
something to offer here in La Paz, that’s why we have planned a lot of
surprises for the month of March for our upcoming Buwan ng La Paz,” added
Aying.
Also, Junnie Rex Ambus,
Municipal Agriculturist of La Paz, Agusan del Sur, highlighted that
the LGU-La Paz through the Municipal Agriculture’s Office, has conducted a
three-day training on extension delivery system for the agricultural extension
workers for them to have better understanding on their roles and functions in
their respective barangays.
This, he said, will form
part of the many activities that they have planned to conduct with the farmers
to capacitate them and make them more equipped, especially that the municipality
will be showcasing their local products during the ‘Buwan ng La Paz.”
“For now, of the 15
identified barangays in the municipality, we already have 1 barangay that has
an agricultural extension worker assigned. The LGU sees to it that the
implementation of the programs here are closely monitored. The consolidation of
the data on the clusters of farmers here and farmers organizations is ongoing,
especially that the full devolution will be fully implemented,” he said.
“The local government unit
has also scheduled the conduct of a massive pregnancy diagnosis of artificial
insemination of carabaos and hogs/pigs, including cows and goats. We are also
getting ready for the upcoming 3rd Buwan ng La Paz celebration,
which the Agri trade fair is one of the highlights. So, this will run for two
weeks wherein every barangay in the municipality will install their Agri booth
and display their products, and let those coming from other municipalities and
cities learn about the products of La Paz,” Ambus added.
Meanwhile, Keren Ace
Natad, Information Officer of La Paz, Agusan del Sur, took the chance to
highlight the significant accomplishments of the LGU under the administration
of Mayor Michael Lim.
“When it comes to
infrastructure, the LGU has recently turnedover the Public Market and Bus
Terminal with a state-of-the-art architecture, which really caught the
attention of the netizens. And aside from that, the municipal government here
also fast tracks the implementation of our water system. And the construction
of the legislative building and gymnasium, including the greening program,” she
said.
Natad further revealed
that in the coming months, the local government unit will be conducting various
activities to include the following: 1) Gender and Development (GAD) Planning
and Budgeting on March 1-3, 2023; 2) Budget hearing by April 2023; 3)
Government-on-Wheels to remote barangays of the municipality; and 4) Visitation
to barangays to assess the specific concerns of the residents. (JPG/PIA-Agusan
