DA launches hybrid rice program in Cantilan 

CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur -- The Department of Agriculture - Caraga, in partnership with the local government unit of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur is implementing the 100-hectare Hybrid Rice Techno Derby for the upcoming dry cropping season.

With the LGU's bid to boost the rice production and yield in Cantilan, local chief executive Philip Arreza Pichay, expressed full support to the DA's hybrid rice program, during the opening ceremony  conducted  today, April 20, 2023.

Six (6) seed companies simultaneously conducted the Technical Briefing to orient the 70 farmer-cooperators in Cantilan on the proper management of hybrid rice production from seedling to harvest.

The techno derby  promotes hybrid rice to farmers and for them to discover  the benefits of planting hybrid rice as to its yield per hectare.

Present also in the activity were  Municipal Agriculturist, Ceasar Q. Blanco, Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Program Coordinating Office (DA-APCO) SDS  Chief June Anthony Ouano, together with the representatives from DA-Caraga Rice Program, and various private seed companies.
