DOH Caraga strengthens MR-bOPV SIA through partners’ forum
BUTUAN CITY -- In a significant move to provide updates and gain support from partner agencies and stakeholders for the Measles-Rubella and Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-bOPV SIA) campaign in Butuan City, the Department of Health (DOH) Caraga recently organized a partners' forum in Butuan City.
The forum provided a platform for Cheryl Mary Plaza, the DOH Caraga DMO IV, to present the accomplishments and updates of the MR-bOPV SIA campaign. Drawing from daily quick count reports submitted by local government units (LGUs) across the Caraga region, Plaza shared compelling data that positioned Caraga as the top performer in the Philippines for the said campaign. The region achieved impressive vaccination numbers, including 211,596 out of 276,101 targeted children aged 9-59 months receiving the MR vaccine, and 110,783 out of 151,622 targeted children aged 0-59 months receiving the bOPV vaccine.
The event commenced with a
demonstration of commitment as all participants raised their right hand while
reciting a pledge to support the cause. Additionally, representatives from
various stakeholders solidified their dedication by writing down their pledges
and affixing them to the MRSIA Board, led by Romelyn T. Santos, nurse V of DOH
Caraga. To ensure transparency and confirmation, Santos took the initiative to
read aloud each commitment and acknowledging the participants' unwavering
support.
Furthermore, the event
showcased the comprehensive MRSIA communication materials presented by Phoebie
Rhanie D. Buque, the DOH Caraga HEPO II. This valuable resource was
supplemented by the dissemination of the Department of the Interior and Local
Government (DILG) Memorandum, reinforcing the significance of collective
support for the campaign.
The partners' forum was
attended by diverse range of participants, including partner national
government agencies such as, DILG, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of
Agriculture, Department of Transportation, Philippine Information Agency,
Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Social Welfare and
Development, National Telecommunications Commission, National Nutrition
Council, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, Department of Justice,
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Housing Authority, Office of Civil
Defense, and National Food Authority. Additionally, representatives from local
government units including the City Health Office, Public Information Office,
City SWD, BSNHAI, Butuan Medical Center, and DOHAI, were actively engaged in
the discussions. The event also welcomed esteemed educational institutions to
wit, Enfant Cheri Study Centre, Inc., Caraga State University, Rainbow of
Angels, and Saint Joseph Institute of Technology, all contributed valuable
insights. Noteworthy organizations like the Rotary Uptown Butuan, Delta
Fraternity, Riding Community Vlogger, and Team Laagan showcased their
commitment to the cause. Furthermore, the presence of the Seventh-day Adventist
Church representative added to the diversity of the attendees.
