9.6M evacuation center turns over to San Miguel town
SAN MIGUEL, Surigao del Sur -- Surigao del Sur First District Representative
and House Committee Chair on Public Works and Highways, Engr. Romeo S. Momo
Sr., with Provincial Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, recently graced the
Turnover Ceremony of the newly constructed evacuation center worth P9.6 million
in Barangay Sagbayan, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur.
Punong Barangay Ruel Taladoc expressed his gratitude, acknowledging that their
barangay is prone to flooding during storms. With the establishment of the
evacuation center, they will no longer have difficulty finding a safe place to
evacuate. The facility will provide them with the security and protection they
need in times of emergencies and calamities.
The congressman and governor emphasized that the building will not only be used
during calamitie, it can also be used as a venue for any events and occasions.
Both officials assured the community that the well-built and spacious facility
will be maximized and maintained properly.
Meanwhile, the evacuation center is aligned with the vision and fundamentals of
good governance, particularly in conserving the ecosystem, supporting
productive sectors, protecting vulnerable communities, empowering local
government units, and broadening and strengthening people's participation in
all levels of the government.
The initiative showcased the dedication and collaborative efforts of the great
leaders in Surigao del Sur to improve the lives of their constituents.
