DOLE advocates for healthy, safe work environment in PDI
SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands -- The Department of Labor and Employment Dinagat Islands Satellite Office (PDISO), in partnership with the provincial local government unit of Dinagat Islands celebrated the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2023 and the Contractors/Suppliers' Forum, in line with the 121st Labor Day at the PDRRMC Emergency Operation Center Function Hall, Barangay Sta. Cruz, San Jose town.
Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr. welcomed the fifty-four representatives of the different contractors, suppliers, and safety officers in the province.
The governor was joined by Dennis Delgado, provincial administrator, Alvin D. Dela Cruz, Bidding and Awards Committee (BAC) chairperson, Jorge C. Daligdig, BAC vice-chairperson, and the BAC technical working group.
The BAC discussed the bidding procedures on goods and infrastructure, procurement timeliness, the protest, remedies, blacklisting and termination.
Meanwhile, DOLE PDISO Officer-in-Charge Provincial Head, Engr. John Ritchie A. Tangpos, together with Bepu Brylle R. Bangcoyo and Jamaica M. Dacutanan, as speakers discussed the salient features of DOLE Department Order 198-18, Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP), and Occupational Safety and Health Organization.
This year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work celebration is anchored on the theme, “A safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work.”
The DOLE PDISO and the provincial government of Dinagat Islands are one in their committment to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at all times. As such, government representatives from both offices, safety practitioners and officers, and representatives from private institutions pledged their allegiance to observe and promote health and safety in all workplaces by signing the World Safety Day commitment wall.
