Culinary Battle highlights nutrition celeb in Tandag City

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- On July 20, 2023, the local government unit of Tandag City, through the City Nutrition Office celebrated the 49th National Nutrition Month at the Barangay Mabua covered court in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

With this year's theme, "Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable For All,"  the celebration was concluded by a forum on food healthy choices with valuable insights and inspiration from the Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, Miloniza Nieves-Serra, as the guest speaker.

The breathtaking Culinary Battle, a cooking competition, added a delectable twist to the event and witnessed by the participants from the 21 barangays of the city which were clustered into three groups, while each showcased their finest cooking skills and creativity in crafting nutritious food for all.

Cluster 2 composed of barangays Awasian, Quezon, San Antonio, Buenavista, Salvacion, Pangi, and San Agustin Norte was declared as 1st place; while Cluster 3 composed of barangays Telaje, Mabuhay, Maticdum, Maitom, Pandanon, San Isidro, and San Jose got the 2nd Place; and Cluster 1 composed of Barangays Bongtud, Mabua, Rosario, San Agustin Sur, Bioto, Dagocdoc, and Bag-ong Lungsod received the 3rd place.

As expression of full support, Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, ably represented by provincial administrative officer Joephet Lerog, City Vice Mayor Eleanor D. Momo, Sangguniang Panglungsod member Geraldine Gay G. Tan, DILG City Director Olivia P. Bagasbas, CSWDO chief Tessie S. Buniel and City Health Office head Dr. Ruth E. MaΓ±acap-Arraz joined ans witnessed the activity.
