Prime movers to heighten thrust of the Greening Caraga Project

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY – To give multi-sectoral groups in Caraga a wider scope and better understanding and appreciation on the Greening Caraga Project, the officials of the Foundation for Rural and Enterprise and Ecology Development of Mindanao (FREEDOM), Incorporated will be engaging with the Caraganon stakeholders for a meeting on July 12, 2023 at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has extended its support to the initiative of the FREEDOM, Inc., in the creation of the Greening Caraga Project.

According to Antonio Peralta, Greening Caraga project manager/ executive director of FREEDOM, Inc., this Greening Agri-Food Value Chains through Carbon-Based Inputs (CBI) for agriculture and waste recovery in Caraga Region and in Mindanao island, aims to reduce pollution through carbon sequestration in Agri-food value chains and increase the economic viability of rice farmer cooperatives composed of rice millers – micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

“It focuses on the development of efficient rural markets of carbon-based inputs through the production and effective adoption in the agricultural value chains,” said Peralta.

With this innovation, the FREEDOM, Inc., as an organization continues to engage with the different sectors in the region to further enhance and sustain the two-year project. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
