Artisan in PDI goes global

SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands - Driven by a deep desire to make a difference, Lynn Sheryl Reasol, owner of Binuhat Arts and Craft Trading of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands found her purpose in providing livelihood and income source to her community, particularly the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries and their families.

Her vision was to rise from poverty through utilizing and enhancing the remarkable skills of the local weavers and advancing the potential of the handmade products in the community. With unwavering determination, she aspired to make the Binuhat Arts and Crafts a global brand.

The journey was never easy for Reasol faced the challenges in managing the entire company. From sourcing out raw materials to engaging the weavers and reaching out to customers, every step required her utmost attention and effort, especially as a new player in the business world.

However, amidst the daunting obstacles, she found solace and support from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Province of Dinagat Islands program on One Town One Product (OTOP) Next Gen, which provided an opportunity for her products to be showcased to potential customers in a bigger market.

The challenges did not end there. Apart from the pandemic, the Super Typhoon Odette tested the resilience of Binuhat Arts and Craft, seemingly pushing them back to square one. But with the unwavering support of the Binuhat family, they refused to be defeated. Standing tall in the face of adversity, they ensured that no one was left behind among them, especially the local weavers who worked hard for productivity and income, they persevered and rebuilt their dreams from the ground up.

Through their collective efforts and unwavering spirit, Binuhat Arts and Craft emerged as a beacon of hope, empowering lives through their exquisite handicrafts. Their resilient and ambitious journey served as an inspiring testament to the power of unity and the transformative impact of a shared vision. (SDR/PIA-Dinagat Islands)
