DSWD-13 turns over isolation facility to Tagbina town
TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga, in collaboration with the local government unit of Tagbina successfully turned over the upgraded barangay hall as temporary isolation facility on August 15, 2023 in Barangay Malixi, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.
The facility has a
physical area of 44.01 sq.m, consisting of two units of comfort rooms, portable
handwash, four-room partitions, six units of folding beds with complete
amenities and medical equipment amounting to P925,624.25.
The community sub-project
is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the barangay LGU and its
community, with the support of LGU- Tagbina, and DSWD- Kapit-Bisig Laban sa
Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI -
CIDSS) National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP) Additional
Financing.
Mayor Glaiza Jane
Polizon-Lanete expressed her gratitude to the individuals behind the success of
the community sub-projects especially the community volunteers who exerted
their efforts, time, and sacrifices.
“Kung wala kamo, dili nato
matagamtaman karun ang bunga sa inyuhang kahago para sa katawhan sa Barangay
Malixi (Without you, we would not be able to enjoy the
fruits of your hard work for the people of Barangay Malixi),“ she
said.
Devine Grace Abucay of
DSWD Caraga emphasized the importance of community empowerment, participation,
transparency, and accountability principle that resulted in the successful
implementation of the program.
The smiles on the faces of
the barangay officials and the community volunteers were beyond compare as they
entered the newly upgraded barangay hall.
KALAHI-CIDSS will continue
to serve Tagbinahons through Community Driven Development, empowering
communities and local government units both in municipal and barangay as well.
The population of Barangay Malixi grew from 1,031 in 1990 to 1,432 in 2020, thus also increasing the demand for better government services to the barangay. (with a report from LGU-Tagbina/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
