Training on vegetable, onion production kicks off in PDI
Envisioning to make Caraga Region a sustainable supplier of high quality, safe, fresh and processed vegetables, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga expanded its reach in teaching the right technology to include not just the farmers but its personnel and the local government unit as partners/stakeholders.
With this, a two-day training on
Lowland Vegetable Production and Bulb Onion Production was conducted at
RAFTITTI, Inc., Cuarinta, San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands on
September 7 to 8, 2023.
Romer Sarceda Amante, vegetable
coordinator of DA-Caraga said that the activity aimed to transfer the technical
knowledge and capacitate DA’s workforce for the sustainable development of the
vegetable industry in the region.
Twenty-five (technical staff from the
Operations Division including Special Projects specifically 4K and SAAD, two
from the Provincial Agriculture Office of Dinagat Islands and six
representatives from the different municipalities in the island province
participated in the training.
Equipped with the knowledge and
skills, the trained staff can now augment in the tasks of cascading new farming
