Bonok-Bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw Festival 2023 showcases competitive engagements
In this year's competition, the grand champion contingent received P1 million each plus a trophy.
The Hingas San Juan Performing Arts of Barangay San Juan, Surigao City got the 1st place and Bagtik Sumayajaw nan Canlanipa of Barangay Canlanipa was declared the second place winners of the Bonok-Bonok based category.
For Bonok-Bonok Festival of Festivals category, 1st place was given to the municipality of Nasipit, Province of Agusan del Norte and 2nd place was awarded to Surigao City National High School Special Program in the Arts. Contingents from Surigao City Central Elementary School also adjudged as best in street dancing, best in costume and Jason Villarente as best choreographer.
The best in musicality, best in street dancing, best in costume, and for the Bonok-Bonok festival of festivals category went to Agusan del Sur Artists Guild (ADSAG). While, Oro Higalaay Festival of Cagayan de Oro City for best in contingent ID. While contingents from Lumad Capalaynon of Capalayan National High School received consolation price plus plaque of appreciation for Bonok-Bonok based category, and the contingents from Lumad Habonganon of Jabonga, Agusan del Norte for Bonok-Bonok festival of festivals category.
The Bonok-Bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw Festival is one of the most anticipated event, happening every 9th of September. Its is celebrated through a colorful street dance competition a tribute to its patron saint, San Nicholas de Tolentino. It is also one of the highlights of Surigao City's annual fiesta celebration.
