Demo on rice production culminates in Cantilan town

CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur - The Department of Agriclture-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PhilRice) Agusan, in partnership with the local government unit of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur successfully culminated the Techno PUSH: Technology Demonstration of Rice Production Technologies in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur on September 22, 2023, through a Farmers' Field Day and Forum.

The Techno PUSH in Cantilan is one of the technology demonstration of rice production such as in Northeastern Mindanao Project of PhilRice - Agusan that sought to increase awareness and adoption of farmers and other stakeholders to modern rice production technologies.

“We have to work hard”, said Mayor Philip Pichay, as he encouraged all the farmers to do better and apply the modern technologies and high-yielding varieties demonstrated by the local government and national agencies like Philrice.

Carlito Camaso, the rice farmer - cooperator of the techno demo, expressed his gratitude and commitment to applying these new technologies in the next cropping seasons.

SB member  Romeo Emmanuel D. Azarcon, Municipal Agriculturist Ceasar Q. Blanco, and PhilRice, BDI-Project Leader, Cheryl U. Seville were also in attendance during the activity. (LGU-Cantilan/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
