Surigao del Norte formulates tourism dev't plan

SURIGAO CITY. Surigao del Norte -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga, in partnership with the provincial government of Surigao del Norte, through the Provincial Tourism Office, recently conducted a pivotal workshop on the formulation of the Local Tourism and Development Plan, held at the Governor's conference hall in Surigao City.

The three-day workshop enhanced the capabilities of the tourism industry partners in the province, and brought together municipal tourism and planning officers of Surigao del Norte, thereby fostered a deeper understanding on development planning within the context of local tourism destinations, and provided the participants with some insights in the formulation of an effective Local Tourism and Development Plan.

Moreover, the workshop capacitated the tourism industry partners in creating their respective tourism development plans, recognizing the critical role that these plans play in the sustainable growth of tourism in the region.

Carminah Garcia, from the Office of Tourism Development, Planning, Research, and Information Management (OTDPRIM), served as the resource person of the workshop.

In her message, DOT Caraga Regional Director Ivonnie B. Dumadag emphasized the important role of tourism as a major economic driver in both Surigao del Norte and the broader Caraga Region, as the activity represented a significant convergence and contribution for the advancement of tourism in Surigao del Norte.

"The workshop on the formulation of Local Tourism and Development Plan is a significant step towards achieving this goal, and it underscores the commitment of local authorities and the DOT to the growth and preservation of this vital industry, " underscored Dir.
