BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- The local government unit of Bislig City spearheaded the 7th Biggest Loser Challenge at Hagonoy Island in Caguyao, on October 14, 2023, as hosted by the City Human Resource Management Office, in collaboration with the Barangay Affairs Office (BAO), City Nutrition Office, and City Health Office. This is part of the LGU's initiative on health and wellness dubbed as "LGU-lympic."

The competition challenged the participants in different ways, with BAO setting up several obstacles, including free water diving (apnea diving), sand crawling, tire pulling, individual water gallon lifting, and group life-ring lifting.

For one,  free water diving required the participants to hold their breath and dive to retrieve objects underwater, while the sand crawling challenge was a grueling test of crawling through a sand-filled obstacle course.

The tire pulling required every challenger to drag heavy tires over a set distance, while the individual water gallon lifting challenge tested their arm strength.

The group life-ring lifting challenge promoted teamwork and cooperation showing their techniques for lifting a life-ring together to create a camaraderie as a team.

Through the support and guidance of the facilitators, the exigent activities engaged the participants to know and identify their limits. It tested their physical strength, endurance, stamina and determination.

Overall, the 7th Biggest Loser Challenge ended with a bang, as it did not only promote fitness and wellness but also showcased the dedication and commitment of individuals in their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. (City Government of Bislig/NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
