29IB honors military retirees
CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte- The 29th Infantry "Matatag" Battalion hosted a solemn Flag Retreat Ceremony to honor the five military retirees who dedicated their lives in service to the country, at the battalion's headquarters on November 8, where a special tribute was paid to these esteemed individuals.
The 29th Infantry "Matatag" Battalion expressed its deepest gratitude for the invaluable contributions made by the retirees to the unit's enduring success. Their years of dedicated service left an indelible mark on the battalion, and their legacy will continue to inspire the men and women in uniform.
During the ceremony, Lt.Col. Cresencio C. Gargar INF (GSC) PA, commanding officer, presented each retiree with a commemorative memento as a token of appreciation, that served as a symbol of the deep respect and admiration felt by their colleagues for their years of service and sacrifice.
One of the retirees, TSg. Naje said, “Ang ako lang ikabilin sa inyo mga junior non-commissioned officers (NCOs), magtigum gyud kay dili lalim magretire kung walay buffer fund. (The only thing I will leave to you junior NCOs is to save up because it's difficult to retire early without a buffer fund.)”
As the sun set on this memorable day, the 29th Infantry "Matatag" Battalion reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the legacy of those who came before and pledged to continue their mission with the same dedication and valor.
Lt.Col. Gargar emphasized that, "Today, we stand in awe of the remarkable service rendered by our retirees. Their selfless dedication and tireless efforts were instrumental in shaping the unit's identity and success. We owe them a debt of gratitude that words alone cannot convey. Let us continue in performing our duty and aspire to be like our retirees who contributed to the development of our nation." (29th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
