Agusan Norte uses SGLG incentive to provide potable water in remote community
BUTUAN CITY – The provincial government of Agusan del Norte has recently turned over a P9.4 million water system project to the town of Buenavista, which will benefit about a hundred households in Sitio Calaitan in Barangay Simbalan.
Funding for the project came from the incentive given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to Agusan del Norte for having earned the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
This water system includes communal faucets, a reservoir, and a piped distribution network that can that can deliver 40 to 80 liters of water per day to about 100 households.
Buenavista Mayor Joselito Roble expressed gratitude to the provincial government led by Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante for choosing Barangay Simbalan as site of the project.
“Finally, the people in this barangay, particularly in Sitio Calaitan, can now have a sustainable and clean water supply,” the mayor said.
Gov. Amante, on the other hand, stepped in to address the urgent need for potable water in the area.
“We need to know and understand the importance of completing the project as soon as possible because clean water is a right. I call on the residents to maintain and monitor the project so this facility will still be used by the future generation,” the governor emphasized.
Punong Barangay Walter Tuga thanked the local government on behalf of the people of Simbalan.
“I am grateful for this project because it addresses our need for clean water,” he said. (NCLM/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
