50 parents of child laborers receive P1.5M livelihood projects
ESPERANZA, Agusan del Sur -- In its continuous effort to eliminate child labor, the Department of Labor and Employment – Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE-ADSFO) released P1.5 million worth of livelihood projects to some 50 parents of child laborers of Esperanza, this province.
The livelihood release was integrated during the
flag raising ceremony of the local government unit of Esperanza, as attended by
the managers of the municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO) LGU
officials.
Representing DOLE-ADSFO, Maximo Magallen, expressed
his gratitude to LGU - Esperanza for the continuous support in implementing the
existing programs and services of the department.
“The Department of Labor and Employment, through
the livelihood projects offered to our beneficiaries, is firm in its aim to
alleviate the economic status of the beneficiaries,” Magallen said.
Glinda Escobal, one of the beneficiaries of the
program, gave her heartfelt appreciation to DOLE for the rare opportunity that
she received from the government.
“With the help of this livelihood, I commit to
sustain this project and I promise to support the education of my child,” added
Escobal.
The beneficiaries received P30,000 worth of
individual livelihood project in the form of sari-sari store, rice retailing
business, agri-veteranary supplies, fish vending, food vending, hog raising,
mini frozen food store, nail salon, mini-school supplies, masonry, and
vulcanizing shop.
The DOLE – Caraga continued to solidify its programs through strategic partnership with the LGUs and other stakeholders to ensure a child-labor-free nation in the future. (DOLE-ADSFO/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
