TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- To ensure the implementation and compliance on
Republic Act No. 11361 or the Anti-Obstruction of Power Lines Act, four units
of high-quality chainsaw units were recently turned over to the Surigao del Sur
Electric Cooperative (SURSECO) II Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative (SEMPCO)
by the Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) under its Chainsaw Project.
The Chainsaw Project provided a significant impact to the community as it
prevented power line obstructions thereby ensuring the continuous and
uninterrupted transmission and distribution of electricity in the province. It
also helped clear out hazardous trees and vegetation for the safety of the
public, especially its member-consumer-owners (MCOs).
The ceremonial turnover was attended by AboitizPower account officer William PaΓ±a; SEMPCO officials headed by Engr. Joselito U. Grumez; and SURSECO II employees headed by general manager Roel E. Abad, together with its member-consumer-owner representatives and board of directors.
During the activity, PaΓ±a emphasized the valuable contribution of AboitizPower’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
“The Chainsaw Project is a fresh CSR concept in support to RA 11361 that was approved in 2019. AboitizPower has always been supportive to the government policies that protect and ensure the welfare of electric consumers,” he said.
“The AboitizPower also disclosed that the donated chainsaw units were of high quality for more efficient output,” PaΓ±a added.
Engr. Grumez, on the other hand, shared that SEMPCO was grateful to serve as beneficiary of the Chainsaw Project and guaranteed full implementation of the law.
Dir. Ascarez sincerely recognized the 14 years of unwavering support of the AboitizPower to the electric cooperative saying, “Through the Aboitiz Foundation, SURSECO II has always been a recipient of important CSR projects including the Computerization Project that helped enhance the computer education program of various schools in SURSECO II franchise area. With this, I am more excited to welcome the new year 2024 with more CSR programs from AboitizPower.”
RA 11361 or the Anti Obstruction of Power Lines Act prohibits the planting of tall growing plants, the construction of hazardous improvements, and the conduct of any hazardous activities within the power line corridor, among others. (with a report from SURSECO II/NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
