By Nida Grace P. Barcena

TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Caraga, together with the local government of Tagbina, recently turned over an isolation facility to Barangay Tagongon of this town.

The facility worth P1.3 million was funded under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) National Community-Driven Development Program - Additional Financing (KC-NCDDP AF) Phase 1.

DSWD-13 fulfilled its commitment to strengthen the community resilience of Barangay Tagongon in Tagbina, Surigao del Sur by upgrading the building of its barangay to include an isolation facility. Photo courtesy of LGU-Tagbina.

“This project was initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga and LGU – Tagbina,” said Glenn B. Lazaro, LGU executive officer.

“The 128 - square meter structure from the upgraded barangay hall  has two toilets with  septic tank, and partitioned rooms with six folding beds,” Lazaro said.

Riden Jan Mangin, Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson and KALAHI youth volunteer expressed his appreciation to DSWD and the LGU as this project will greatly benefit the community especially during calamities and disasters.

"As a mindful youth in Brgy. Tagongon, I am very grateful to the DSWD Caraga through the KALAHI-CIDSS NCDDP AF and the LGU-Tagbina led by our energetic municipal Mayor Glaiza Jane Polizon-Lanete. With the isolation facility, the community is safer now, and this building will serve as a venue for productive activities in our barangay,” Mangin said.

“We feel the importance of this project, and in return, we will always work together as youth to provide good and quality services to the people in Barangay Tagongon," Mangin added. (PIA-Surigao del Sur with a report from LGU-Tagbina)
