CARMEN, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways, First District Engineering Office (DPWH-DEO 1) has turned over the ceremonial key of the newly constructed two-classroom school building to San Vicente Elementary School in San Vicente, Carmen, Surigao del Sur on February 8.
The new
school building is equipped with a water supply system, electrical lights,
toilets, and electric fans worth P4.7 million.
This will
also serve as a learning facility for students from kindergarten to Grade 2.
The
infrastructure was an answered prayer to the learners, parents and education
frontliners as the school suffered from lack of classrooms in the previous
years.
In a message, Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) chief Carlos Tian Chow C. Correos stated, "Education is not just a gift, but a beacon of hope. This is an affirmation that children have the right to education, as well as they have the right to a safe and healthy learning environment.”
“This
building will also expand the minds and motivate our learners to dream big and
to help the country as our future leaders,” Correous said.
The
turnover was led by Eppie G. Cubero, project engineer and Jonathan Matildo, a
school head of San Vicente Elementary School in San Vicente and was witnessed
by Surigao del Sur first district Rep. Romeo S. Momo Sr., Gov. Alexander T.
Pimentel of Surigao del Sur, and Mayor Jane V. Plaza.
Also
present were Carmen Vice Mayor Harvey Manawatao, Division Education
Program Supervisor (EPS) Rufino Reyes, municipal councilors Elvie U. Ohao and
Nilo Bigno, and Barangay Captain Blandena V. Sulian.
This accomplishment is a result of DepEd’s commitment to deliver quality education for all. With this, DepEd - Surigao del Sur Schools Division continues to collaborate with DPWH for the realization of the remaining 575 classrooms to serve the elementary and secondary learners in the province.
