One rebel dead, high-powered firearm, war materials seized in Agusan Norte clash
CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte – A member of the communist terrorist group (CTG) died during the encounter between the combined troops of the 29th and 30th Infantry Battalion against the terrorist group at Brgy Concepcion, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte on February 23, 2024.
The clash resulted in the death of certain Leo Salino Mindoro alias Yolly/Yang,
staff member of SRSDG Northland and capture of one AK47, war
materials and voluminous documents with high intel value.
Prior to the encounter, the unit received reports from concerned civilians regarding the CTGs conducting extortion activities in the area. After validating the veracity of the report, the troops immediately conducted combat operations in the area that led to the encounter against more or less 10 CTGs believed to be members of the Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabedad, Northland, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (SRSDG, NL, NEMRC) under Ricky M. Per alias Rem.
Furthermore, the government troops facilitated the extrication of the
cadaver in collaboration with the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and the
Philippine National Police of Cabadbaran City. Likewise, the city government of
Cabadbaran facilitated the proper burial arrangements of the killed CTG,
including the coordination to the family of alias Yolly and the disposition of
his remains.
Lt.Col. Cresencio C. Gargar seized this opportunity to call upon remaining members of the CTG to surrender, emphasizing that the military is committed to a fair and just process for those who will choose the path of peace. He expresses gratitude to vigilant civilians whose timely reports played a pivotal role in the recent operation, highlighting the crucial collaboration between the military and the community in maintaining peace and order in Agusan del Norte.
