Electric coop in Surigao Sur now accepts e-payments

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- The member-consumer-owners (MCOs) of the Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative II (SURSECO-II) can pay now their electric bill with less hassle through the electronic commerce payment or ECPay using their mobile phones, as the program was launched on February 23 at the Balay Tapukanan, SURSECO II main office compound in Tandag City.

Department, revealed that the proposal on the digital payment facility through
ECPay, Incorporation was approved in 2023. With the thorough adjustment due to
some glitches for improvement and modification, both systems from SURSECO-II
and ECPay were synchronized and finally it now ready for full implementation
this year.
“This initiative is a product of the collaborative efforts for continuous
delivery of highest quality of service by the board of directors, and the
management of SURSECO II,” Jaluag said.
SURSECO II general manager Roel Abad said, that the platform shall not accept
partial payment, advance, and overpayments.
As of press time, MCOs can pay their electric bills through GCash, a Philippine
mobile payment service of Globe Fintech Innovations, Incorporation and operated
by its wholly-owned subsidiary, G-Xchange, Incorporation. As of May 2023, GCash
claimed to have 81 million active users and 2.5 million sellers and merchants
across the country.
Abad added, that more companies have already visited their office for
partnership like PayMaya, CLiQQ, and many more, and are still to be worked
with, citing the technical aspects.
Meanwhile, Surigao del Sur is divided into two electric cooperatives both are
now accepting ECPay. The south is under the operation of SURSECO I with its
main office at San Fernando, Bislig City, while the northern part is under
SURSECO II with its main office at Tandag City.
SURSECO II further covers 13 towns namely, Carrascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Carmen, Lanuza, Cortes, San Miguel, Tago, Bayabas, Cagwait, Marihatag, San Agusitn, Lianga, and the city of Tandag. (PIA-Surigao del Sur)
