CARRASCAL, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- Over 250 job-seekers from the town of Carrascal and nearby areas in the province of Surigao del Sur participated in a job fair which the municipality organized recently in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment.
Mining companies, business establishments, and line agencies of the government were among those who accommodated the job-seekers.
Municipal Administrator-designate Joseph L. Urgel expressed the municipal government’s commitment to provide employment opportunities to Carrascalanons as well as job-seekers in the province.
“With the recent disaster that hit the province, the more we need to ensure the survival of our people and provision of employment is one good practice,” Urgel relayed.
Jean, one of the applicants, shared that the job fair is a great opportunity for them to be employed, saying, “I was optimistic to be hired by one of the companies because we have good schools in the province that gave us a strong foundation to apply for a job.”
“I do not have to travel to big cities since the opportunity is brought near to us, Surigaonons. This is very inspiring and cost-efficient,” she said.
With the success of this annual job fair, the LGU and the stakeholders are motivated to have more job fairs within the year, determined to bring this employment opportunity to the grassroots. (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur).
