Population office offers better services with building expansion
BUENAVISTA Agusan del Norte -- In a momentous event on February 29, 2024, the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga celebrated two significant milestones that marked a new chapter in their service to the region.
The occasion witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to expand the donated lot and the groundbreaking for the expansion of the CPD-Caraga Regional Office.
Undersecretary Lisa Grace S. Bersales, CPD Executive Director, congratulated CPD-Caraga Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano and his dedicated staff for their hard work, dedication, and collaboration with stakeholders that led to this groundbreaking moment. The expansion of the office is poised to institutionalize population and development programs for the improved welfare of Caraga communities.
Undersecretary Bersales said that the fruitful partnership between the national government, legislators, and local partners signified a promising future for the region. As ground was broken for the expanded office building, the CPD-Caraga team looked forward to creating more opportunities to serve their beloved communities.
Dir. Makinano expressed sincere appreciation to Congressional Representative Dale B. Corvera for his unwavering support and for securing the P18 million Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) that will finance the full construction of the 3-storey building. Additionally, Rep. Corvera approved the request for the completion of the ground and concrete perimeter fence, enhancing the security and functionality of the office.
Acknowledging the efforts of the DPWH Agusan del Norte District Engineering Office for their efficient work on plans and documents, Makinano also commended Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante for her dedication to rolling out the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action.
Also, appreciation was extended by the director to the municipality of Buenavista, led by Mayor Joselito T. Roble, Vice Mayor Ramon A.G. Bungabong, and the Sangguniang Bayan, for generously providing the expanded 1,500 sqm. property. This additional space will enable CPD-Caraga to deliver comprehensive population and development services effectively.
Even amidst his attendance at the League of Mayors national conference, Mayor Roble signed the MOA ahead of the ceremony, demonstrating his commitment to shared goals. The barangay council of Abilan was also acknowledged for their support, including the inclusion of CPD-Caraga in their night patrol and other forms of assistance, highlighting the invaluable collaboration in achieving CPD-Caraga's mission.
