Community volunteers of the country visit Tagbina town
TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- With its remarkable performance in the
implementation of the program on Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive
and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), the participants of
the National Reconciliation Workshop cum Community Volunteers’ Finance Congress
visited the municipality of Tagbina under the leadership of Mayor Glaiza Jane
Polizon-Lanete.
The participants visited three barangays namely, Kahayagan, Sta. Fe, and Sta. Maria, that served as a unique insight for the transformative power of community-driven development initiatives.
Additionally, it spotlighted the significance of volunteerism and community
engagement, fostering meaningful interactions and exchanging diverse
perspectives and experiences.
In her speech during the learning visit, Mayor Lanete emphasized the importance
of community-driven development saying, “We make the people feel included, that
they have a seat at the table when it comes to decision-making and that
regardless of the status—young and old, women and children have a role to play
in the making of our government and that their opinions and ideals matter.”
To highlight, the Tagbina KALAHI-CIDSS 2023 Walkthrough and Milestone of
Accomplishment, including the KALAHI-CIDSS or KC area and municipal
coordinating teams (A/MCT) 2024 landscape were notably presented by the mayor.
On the other hand, Virgilio G. Ocoy, municipal budget officer/MSIT team leader and Sangguniang Bayan member Vanessa V. Polizon shared the impact of the program through testimonies.
The learning visit was also Jezon Romano, national focal person for Social Development Unit; Ben Jan Rusby Natividad, national program focal person of CapBuild Division; Glenn B. Lazaro, SPD chief/private secretary II; representatives of the KALAHI CIDSS National and Regional Program Management Office; community volunteers from across the country, municipal inter-agency committee, Sangguniang Bayan members, and area and municipal coordination teams.
