DOLE taps partners for Agusan Sur's job fair
BUTUAN CITY -- In line with this year's 122nd Labor Day celebration on May 1, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga has tapped different partner stakeholders on the simultaneous conduct of series of activities at the different the provinces of the region.
For the province of Agusan del Sur, the celebration will be highlighted with the conduct of a Job Fair at the Datu Lipus Makapandong (Naliyagan Ground), Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
According to DOLE Caraga Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao that this year's Labor Day celebration bears the theme, "Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Manggagawang Pilipino, Kabalikat At Kasama sa Pag-Asenso."
The DOLE - Agusan del Sur conducted the first tranche of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) payout on April 29 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM in Sibagat, Bayugan City, San Francisco, Esperanza, San Luis, and Talacogon, while the second and last tranche will be on May 1 from 9:00 AM -5:00 PM in Datu Lipus Makapandong (Naliyagan Ground), Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
"We will also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Labor Code of the Philippines. It is the legal code governing employment practices and labor relations in the Philippines. It was enacted through Presidential Decree No. 442 on Labor Day, May 1, 1974, by President Ferdinand Marcos," recalled Suyao.
Suyao further revealed that the job fairs will start at 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM where
different companies are committed to actively participate in the said event and
will offer services that will help the Agsurnons.
"A total of 89 employers will attend and 4,347 job vacancies will be offered in the entire Caraga. All Agsurnon job hunters are encouraged to bring their credentials for them to easily avail the limited job offer," he said.
Meanwhile, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo will be showcased during the job fair. "A total of 131 sellers and 74 total number of Enterprises (Farmer's Associations/ Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)/ DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) beneficiaries in the entire Caraga will be joining. The goal is to help local farmers sell their products with some associations of Agusan del Sur to help promote locally-made products such as mushroom products, meat processed products, vegetable and fruit products, dairy products, and farm supply products of Agsurnon," Suyao said.
Various government agencies will also take part in the one-stop shop namely,
the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) PhilSys registration; Department of
Trade and Industry (DTI) Negosyo Center; Issuance of National Bureau of
Investigation (NBI) clearance; Issuance of Social Security System (SSS) Number;
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Processing of application for Board
Exam and License Renewal; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA) to distribute Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials
and offer available scholarship program; PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG will process
membership registration and application; and distribution of IEC by the
Department of Tourism (DOT).
Citizens could also join in the learning session and capacity-building on productivity while the enhancement of workers in the informal sector cum general labor standard will start at 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. (JPG/KKG, PIA-Agusan del Sur)
