DOT-13 conducts accreditation campaign in Bislig City
BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA-13) -- The city government of Bislig, through
the City Information Office- City Tourism Operations Division, in partnership
with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga headed by Regional Director Ivonnie
B. Dumadag, recently conducted the accreditation campaign on the Updated
Progressive Accreditation System (UPAS) and accreditation help desk in the at
Bislig City Cultural and Sports Center (BCCSC).
The activity extensively promoted the DOT mandatory accreditation among primary
tourism enterprises and encourage LGUs to campaign for accreditation of
secondary tourism enterprises.
Ryan M. Tapayan, senior tourism operations officer and the head of the
Standards Development and Enforcement Unit of DOT Caraga spearheaded the
accreditation orientation on UPAS, stating, “The vital role that the tourism
stakeholders play in shaping a city’s tourism industry and the importance of
meeting the DOT standards in the operation of tourism-related enterprises
(TREs).”
The UPAS is a three-level recognition scheme of the DOT for the
accreditation of the provincial TREs entailing progressive minimum compliance
to the international standards of excellence in all tourism facilities and
services, namely, basic accreditation, regular accreditation, and premium
accreditation.
The event was attended by City Councilor Reynaldo V. Dominguez, committee
chairman on Tourism Development, tourism stakeholders, and owner/proprietors of
