Luxury yacht pit stops in Surigao port

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- Surigao City played host to a luxurious private yacht, MV Solare, as it docked at the Port of Surigao for a brief stopover on May 22.

The Cook Islands-flagged vessel, a gleaming steel marvel stretching 45 meters in length, is en route to Australia and made a strategic pit stop in Surigao to replenish supplies and prepare for its nine-day voyage across the ocean on Friday, 24 May.

MV Solare boasts an impressive pedigree, having been crafted by the renowned BAE Systems Australia at their Jervoise Bay shipyards in Fremantle. This four-decked beauty is powered by a pair of four-stroke marine engines, ensuring a smooth and efficient journey.

The Port of Surigao's prime location at the northeastern tip of Mindanao makes it a well-trodden path for seafaring travelers. It offers convenient access to vessels, like MV Solare, the opportunity to stock up on essential supplies – water, fuel, and provisions – before embarking on extended voyages. Additionally, the port caters to minor maintenance needs, ensuring these luxurious yachts are in top shape to continue their journeys.

This stopover by MV Solare highlighted Surigao City's growing reputation as a vital port for leisure crafts navigating the vast waters between the Philippines and Australia.

The port's strategic position and comprehensive services are proving to be a welcome respite for mariners seeking to ensure a smooth and well-supplied voyage across the seas. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
