More than 2k families in Agusan Sur town receive emergency cash transfer

AGUSAN DEL SUR -- With the aim of providing immediate relief to families trying to make ends meet after the heavy flooding in Agusan del Sur, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga recently conducted the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout in the towns of Rosario, San Francisco, and Sta. Josefa, this province.

A total of 2,569 eligible families from the said municipalities received P5,004, as unconditional assistance for them to purchase essential items such as food, water, shelter, and other necessities, in efforts of rebuilding their lives.

"Nagpasalamat ko og dako ani nga tabang (ECT) hilabina naa koy tulo ka mga anak nga nag-eskwela unya wa nakoy bana. Atong baha, gi-rescue mi og pump boat ug sukad sukad mao to among una nga pagbakwit tungod sa baha," Arlene M. Campos, 49, from Brgy. Pasta, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, expressed her gratitude for the assistance she received and recounted her experience during the flood.

[I'm deeply thankful for this assistance, considering that I have three children to send to school and I no longer have my husband with me. When the flood hit our place, we were rescued by a pump boat, which was our first experience evacuating due to severe flooding.]

The Department is dedicated to continue aiding the disaster-affected communities and providing them with necessary support as they continue to recover from the devastating effects of flooding.

The payout was attended by Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr., Vice Governor Samuel E. Tortor, 2nd District Representative Adolph Edward G. Plaza, and 1st District Representative Alfelito M. Bascug. (DSWD-13/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
