conducts Bayanihan Outreach in General Luna town
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga recently conducted the program on Bayanihan Outreach in Barangay Tawin- Tawin, General Luna, Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte.
Through the said program, livestock farmers in the said barangay availed of free services such as vitamin administration, deworming, pregnancy diagnosis, and artificial insemination.
A total of 10 carabaos received vitamin administration, eight carabaos were treated for deworming, two carabaos underwent pregnancy diagnosis, and two carabaos were artificially inseminated.
Livestock Program Regional Coordinator Jekem Sanchez explained that the outreach program will be beneficial for the livestock sector, particularly in the conduct of artificial insemination (AI).
He said that checking the status of the animals is important because there is no regular access to this service in the island.
"Additionally, this can help the large ruminant sector, especially with artificial insemination, since there is no AI technician in the island,” Sanchez said.
The Bayanihan Outreach Program is one of the highlights of the DA Serbisyo Fair- Kadiwa ng Pangulo Program that aims to bring government services closer to the people. (DA- Caraga/PIA- Surigao del Norte)
