DENR spearheads 'fun quiz-professionals' competition in SurSur

Tandag City, Surigao del Sur - The Department of Environment and Natural
Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) in
Surigao del Sur, led by Adelfo Luengas, spearheaded the Inter-Office
Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) Fun Quiz-Professionals in Tandag City
on June 10.
The healthy competition formed part of the 37th Founding Anniversary celebration of the DENR.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from various teams representing different government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources-Local Government Unit (PENRO - LGU), Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (SDS PPO - PCADU), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Philippine Information Agency - Surigao del Sur (PIA - SDS) Information Center.
The PIA - SDS Information Center received the ultimate accolade as it emerged as the champion of the competion, while
the SDS PPO - PCADU got the second place and PENRO - LGU as the third placer.
The
activity emphasized the collective commitment of various agencies and
stakeholders to environmental conservation and sustainable development,
reinforcing the importance of collaborative efforts in protecting and nurturing
the natural resources for the future.
The commemoration with the theme, “Our Environment. Our Future,” is aligned
with the notable 2024 Philippine Environment Month.
Further, in observance of Arbor Day, the department will also lead the nationwide simultaneous tree planting and growing activity on June 25 at the Ihawan Watershed in Barangay Awasian, Tandag City.
The DENR was created on June 10, 1987, by virtue of Executive Order No. 192. The order reorganized the previous Department of Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources, transferring the energy matters to the Office of the President at that time. (NGPB, PIA-Surigao del Sur)
