Surigao City undergoes SGLG 2024 regional assessment

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- The local government of Surigao City welcomed the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) regional validation team on June 4.

The SGLG validation is part of the Department of the Interior and Local Government's (DILG) effort to recognize and promote exemplary local governance.

The assessment team, led by Fred Gonzaga of CARDO Mindanao, Inc., and Recto Mantiza Jr. from DILG Surigao del Sur, reviewed Surigao City's compliance with the SGLG’s ten key areas such as financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health compliance, sustainable education, peace and order, environmental management, business friendliness, culture and the arts, and youth development.

Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, Vice Mayor Alfonso S. Casurra, and other city officials welcomed the assessors and highlighted Surigao City's achievements and ongoing projects. Various city department heads collaborated to prepare and present the required documentation.

The team held an exit conference after the evaluation to share their findings and offer feedback. The assessment results will determine Surigao City's eligibility for the SGLG award, reflecting its commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in local governance.

Surigao City's active engagement in the SGLG Regional Assessment demonstrated its commitment to constant enhancement, benefiting the entire community of Batang Surigaonons. (Surigao City-PIO/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
