Urgent care, ambulatory service pioneer in Tandag City’s hospital
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- Marked a significant step towards ensuring access to quality healthcare for all Filipinos, the Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center (ASTMMC) in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur launched the Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) program on May 31.
The program implementation
is in line with the marching orders of President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.
to bring healthcare closer to the people, conceptualized and implemented by the
Department of Health (DOH).
It was unfolded at the
institution's audiovisual room located on the 3rd floor of the Outpatient
Department building graced by no less than DOH Undersecretary Abdullah Dumama
Jr., as keynote speaker during the event.
According to Dumama, “The
BUCAS program in ASTMMC is the
first in Caraga region, and second in Mindanao with the first facility
established in Mindanao Central Sanitarium (MCS) in Zamboanga City on March
25.”
The establishment of BUCAS centers is part of DOH
Secretary Teodoro Herbosa’s “28 for 28 by 28” initiative, which aims to
establish at least 28 BUCAS centers to serve 28 million Filipinos by 2028,”
Dumama added.
The program is designed to address ambulatory care cases and other healthcare needs and to decongest the emergency room in the hospital.
The establishment of the
BUCAS Center in ASTMMC served as a testament to the institution's dedication to
providing enhanced medical care to the community, underscoring its proactive
approach to providing healthcare services.
