Surigao Sur police office raises funds for ‘Pailaw sa Sitio’

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) – In a concerted effort to address crime and advance crime prevention, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) technical working group led by PPO Chief Harry Domingo, and the Police Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (PAGPTD) chaired by Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel conducted a run-for-a-cause on June 8.

PCol. Domingo said, “The event raised funds to support the program on "Pailaw sa Sitio,” a community initiative of providing street lights to remote sitios with limited access to electricity.”

“This intervention is a best practice of the SDSPPO, reflecting our commitment to enhancing community safety and fostering crime prevention through improved public infrastructure,” Domingo added.

The run-for-a-cause attracted numerous participants from other regions and featured various race categories. The top finishers in each category were recognized for their outstanding performances each received a cash prize, medal and token, to wit:

Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU) Chief George Carino, on the other hand, said, “The funds raised from this event will support the continuation of the "Pailaw sa Sitio" which aims to install solar-street lights in selected sitios in Surigao del Sur, particularly in areas without available source of electricity. “

The successful execution of the run-for-a-cause underscored the strong community and police collaboration in promoting safety and development.
