Dangerous drugs worth P34-M razed
BUTUAN CITY (PIA) – Claiming its collective victory against illegal drugs, the
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) offices in Region 11,12, and 13
incinerated the confiscated dangerous drugs and paraphernalia on June 14 at
Orgon Wood Industries, Inc., Bingkilan Brgy. San Vicente, Butuan City.
Attended by PBGEN Alan M. Nazarro, Police Regional Office 13 regional director,
represented by Deputy Regional Director for Administration PCOL Michael F.
Lebanan, P34,333,157.51 market value of illegal drugs were disposed of through
thermal decomposition.
Witnessed by various government sectors and significant dignitaries particularly Naravy D. Duquiatan, regional director of PDEA Region 11, Aileen Lovitos, regional director of PDEA Region 12, Charlemagne Tang, representative of PDEA Region 12, a total of 4,209.0119 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, known as shabu worth P28,621,280.58, and 47,598.9744 grams of Marijuana worth P5,711,876.93 were set alight.
Accompanied by Emmanuel N. Libres, punong barangay of Barangay San Vicente, Butuan City; Prosecutor Leilanie C. Empeso, deputy city prosecutor of Butuan City Prosecutors’ Office; Atty. Ingrid Trixia E. Rullon-Nastor, regional public attorney of Public Attorney’s Office Caraga Region; Reverend Father Ruel A. Delector, president of Mt. Mayapay Eagles Club, Caraga region; two representatives from the civil society organizations; Ronald Torregosa, media representative of Radyo Serbato Philippines; and Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Forensic Units from Regions XI and XIII.
"Illegal drugs are penetrating through the routes of Region 11, then
moving to Region 12, and Region 13, and vice versa indicating a complex and
pervasive network facilitating the illegal drug trade across these
regions," said Dir. Duquiatin of PDEA Region 11.
"Illicit drug trade has inflicted immense suffering and devastation, tearing apart families, destroying lives, and undermining the social fabric of the nation. This crisis calls for urgent and coordinated efforts to combat the spread and impact of illegal drugs," she added.
For PCOL Michael F. Lebanan, the event demonstrated a collective resolve to
suppress the drug menace in Caraga region stating, “Through the joint
efforts of law enforcement agencies, judicial branch of the government, and
stakeholders in cooperation with the five pillars of the Philippine criminal
justice system, we can keep our substantial gains in the campaign against
illegal drugs.”
PDEA Caraga Dir. Charlene R Magdurulang also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, highlighting the importance of working together to ensure that these harmful substances are permanently removed from our streets. (RVL, PDEA-13/PIA-Caraga)
