Disaster council in Dinagat Islands leads Emergency Telecommunications Cluster Summit

BUTUAN CITY -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Dinagat Islands spearheaded a crucial Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) Summit in the province. Held in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology - Government Emergency Communications System (DICT – GECS), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the summit focused on enhancing communication protocols for disaster response.

Gov. Nilo P. Demerey Jr. emphasized the summit's importance, highlighting the necessity of emergency communication response. DICT GECS provided hands-on training and showcased cutting-edge technologies, including their Mobile Operation Vehicle for Emergency (MOVE) to ensure effective communication channels during emergencies.

A key component of the summit was a simulation exercise led by DICT GECS. Where participants engaged in real-world disaster scenarios, refining their skills and assessing their performance to improve decision-making under pressure.

It fostered cooperation among agencies and stakeholders, exemplifying a unified approach to disaster management. Such collaborative efforts are crucial in preparing communities for swift and effective responses to natural disasters.
