8 establishments in Caraga recognized for sustainable implementation of productivity-based incentive scheme
Butuan City – In line with the celebration of the 126th Araw ng Kalayaan, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Caraga recognized the eight establishments in the region for their continuous and voluntary implementation of the productivity-based Incentive scheme (PBIS) under the RTWPB’s two-tiered wage system.
The two-tiered wage system is an approach to minimum wage setting that aims to improve the coverage of minimum wages, promote worker and enterprise productivity, and address the negative effects of minimum wage policies. It upholds the policy of setting minimum wage to protect vulnerable workers and recognizing collective bargaining as the primary mode for setting wages and other terms and conditions of employment.
Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao, wage board chairperson and regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Caraga, together with board members Leonidas Dingding, Marvin Sanchez, Florante Perez and Edgar Allan Aquino led the awarding ceremony, alongside RTWPB Caraga Board Secretary VI Earl Dela Victoria.
The following establishments were awarded with a certificate of compliance namely, (1) LAV Construction; (2) Tango Romeo General Construction; (3) Virlo Construction; (4) Earthworks Trading and Equipment Rental; (4) LEG Konstrukt and Development Corporation; (5) Nickelbase Incorporated; (6) Princeace Corporation; (7) Southerphil Development and Marketing Corporation.
The recognition given to the abovementioned firms was anchored on the initiatives enrolled by the office as part of Project Portfolio focusing on the mining sector. These companies have continuously practiced several productivity-based incentive schemes since the introduction of the two-tiered wage system in 2011.
The PBIS is workplace-initiated program on improving the productivity of workers and enterprises in order to generate savings or additional revenues which can be shared by the enterprise with its workers. (RTWPB-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
