SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently commemorated the 36th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) at the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office, P-5, San Francisco, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), established under Republic Act No. 6657, epitomized the redistribution of agricultural land to farmers devoid of land for cultivation, addressing societal inequities. The celebration was a pivotal moment to reflect on agrarian reform's triumphs and enduring impact.
The three-day celebration highlighted the 2nd Pasigarbo Tu Produktong Agraryo Trade Fair, showcasing the premium offerings of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) to bolster local products and augment the income of farmers.
"It is an annual tradition for us to celebrate the CARP anniversary and amplify the services extended by our government to our farmers," remarked Engr. Loida Jones.
Moreover, a community-centric medical mission was launched, providing complimentary healthcare services to farmers and organizers, emphasizing the significance of well-being. Concurrently, a gender and development (GAD) symposium, Zumba sessions, an employee night, essay writing contests, and various activities were organized.
The 36th CARP Anniversary celebration also hosted a press conference attended actively by local media from Agusan del Sur and the Philippine Information Agency Agusan del Sur. The discussions centered on the achievements and challenges of DAR Agusan del Sur, mainly focusing on the agricultural sector's equitable and progressive growth.
"I encourage the residents of San Francisco and neighboring municipalities to visit our Agri-booth, as it directly benefits our farmers and guarantees access to high-quality products at competitive prices," Jones said.
DAR invited all stakeholders, farmers, partners, and the general public to join the observance as they play a significant role in advancing the agricultural sector in the country. (KKG/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
