DICT-13 expands government connectivity in Butuan City

The GovNet Butuan City - Phase 2 Expansion Project significantly enhanced the government’s ICT infrastructure through the provision of faster and more reliable access to various government offices and public institutions to the following locations namely, Congressional Rep. Jose Aquino Multipurpose Building, Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital, Agusan del Norte Provincial Jail, Bliss Elementary School, Butuan City Jail, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Caraga, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Justice - province, Food and Drug Administration Caraga, Libertad Elementary School, Libertad National High School, National Food Authority -warehouse, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Caraga, Philippine National Police PRO13, PNP Hospital, Public Attorney's Office, Office of the Civil Defense Caraga, Aviation Security Group, Bancasi Barangay Hall, Bancasi Integrated School, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, National Irrigation Administration, PAGASA, Philippine Air Force -TOG 10, 402nd Infantry Battalion Brigade, Securities and Exchange Commission, Mindanao Development Authority and the Butuan City Agriculture Office.
"This milestone is a testament to our ongoing commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering our communities through advanced technology," he added.
Barangay Bancasi Councilor Benito Anipan Sr. thanked the DICT Caraga for the inclusion of its barangay hall as one of the beneficiaries of the project.
“Internet connectivity is vital nowadays in all our transactions in the barangay as all programs and reports need to be accomplished and submitted online,“ he said.
The GovNet is a fiber optic cable (FOC) network topology of government offices connected with fast, reliable and secure internet connection. Through the aggregation of common government ICT resources and services, operational and maintenance costs are lowered and secure and efficient government network infrastructures are established, as envisioned in the E-Government Masterplan (EGMP) of 2022.
