600 barangay risk, health frontliners participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation training in Tandag City
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- In line with the “National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Day,” the Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Caraga and Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center Health Emergency Disaster and Management Unit (ASTMMC HEDMU), in collaboration with Tandag City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (CDRRMO) spearheaded a training on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on July 17 at Vicente T. Pimentel Sr. Memorial gymnasium in Tandag City.
According to Reyveen John Geli of CDRDMO, "The said training capacitated the 600 participants from the 21 barangays of Tandag City in two separate sessions to empower them with knowledge and skills to respond to health emergencies.”
“Among the participants identified are the barangay officials, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, barangay health workers (BHWs), barangay nutrition scholars (BNS), barangay tanods, child development workers all coming from the 21 barangays, including the identified Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries from the six central barangays, among others,” he added.
CPR is a life-saving technique useful in many emergencies, including heart attack or near drowning, in which an individual’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped.
Meanwhile, the 17th of July of every year is declared as the National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Day through Proclamation No. 511. (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
